The Artichoke Inn
About This Spot
Stepping into The Artichoke Inn, you’re gently welcomed by the warm, familiar embrace of a true village pub nestled in the heart of Christow. It’s a place where time slows down just enough to savor the simple pleasures—a crackling open fire, the soft murmur of friendly conversation, and the inviting clink of glasses raised in good company. The pace here is unhurried, encouraging moments of connection both with the people around you and the flavors on your plate.
This charming pub balances a relaxed, cozy atmosphere with a quiet buzz that hints at its role as a cherished gathering spot. Whether you’ve come looking for a spot to unwind after a countryside stroll or a lively meal with friends, the atmosphere strikes a heartfelt balance: familiar yet never predictable.
The menu at The Artichoke Inn feels thoughtfully pared back, reflecting the confidence of a kitchen that values quality and comfort over complexity. Expect hearty servings of classic dishes that carry a gentle sophistication—roast beef with all the trimmings, seafood gently kissed by garlic and herbs, and generous portions of lovingly prepared pub favorites. The food here frequently surprises with its depth and care, offering more than the typical village pub fare, whether enjoyed beside the fire inside or picked up as takeout to savor at home.
What truly sets The Artichoke Inn apart is its sense of hospitality. Regulars and visitors alike find themselves embraced by the genuine warmth of the owners and staff, who treat every guest like they belong—whether you’ve arrived with your dog, your family, or simply to steal a quiet moment with a well-poured pint or a crisp cider. The pub’s character grows from these human moments, the easy laughter, the shared stories, and the simple joy of being somewhere that feels like a community living room and a treat for the senses all at once.
In a small village with plenty of choice, The Artichoke Inn quietly holds its own as a refuge for those who appreciate a welcoming smile, well-crafted drinks, and food that tastes like home but with a touch of something special. It’s a place where every visit feels like discovering a secret worth keeping—and sharing.

Love my village pub! Always so friendly and inviting especially with my dog Frank. The food is on another level, not what you’d expect from a little village pub! The fish and chips are delicious but my fave is the NewYorker chicken burger! And their chips what can I say! Amazing pub, amazing people and even better food. Xx

A proper village pub, a small menu of cheap and cheerful pub food, the portion sizes were large the food was lovely. We felt very welcomed by the staff and the local customers. Would definitely visit again.

Great village pub, with lovely staff who are very welcoming. They do take away menu as well as sit in and our favourite is the made from scratch Pizzas which are amazing. We had a selection for our party and there was not a slice left. Especially good is the beef Madras pizza yum yum. Highly recommended x

What a hidden gem. Country pub, just been refurbished and under new management, and it is beautiful, with an open fire. Festive menu was great, the food was amazing, we were a family of 6 and we all enjoyed our meals. Service was exceptional, Plenty of options on the drinks menu too and free parking. Felt very welcomed, and all in all was a brilliant night. Definitely be back again.

We love The Artichoke! Sam and Mark are so friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble - the service is always excellent. The food is quality pub-style food and very good value. The pizzas are particularly good - we have one pretty much every Friday evening!
